This article describes the traditional agricultural cultivation to be found on Mallorca´s landscape and shows the changes that it has undergone due to mass tourism. The onset of tourism brought about a radical transformation of Mallorcan society; the economy, which had previously been based on an agricultural system which operated at an almost subsistence level, was transformed to a service based economic model.
